Most employees don’t ignore training because they don’t care about safety or compliance. They tune out because too much workplace training is built for completion, not retention. It’s too long. It repeats the same ideas every year. It doesn’t match the employee’s role. It’s delivered when the worker is distracted, rushed, or already overloaded. Everyone checks the box, but the behaviour doesn’t change.

That’s training fatigue, and it’s a real operational problem. When employees stop paying attention, employers lose more than engagement. They lose the practical value training is supposed to create. Workers may pass a quiz without remembering the key decision points. Supervisors may complete leadership training without changing how they coach or intervene. Compliance records may look complete while the workplace still carries the same risk.
